First of all..Happy new year to all of you..many people had been wondering about what course you are intending to go to and etc..Well i hope that this post may be able to help you..There will be a total of five admissions exercise and these acronyms may be confusing you..so..
1)JOINT ADMISSIONS EXERCISE[JAE]
For current and previous year's GCE 'O' Level holders.(1)That means everyone needs to apply for this exercise.
2)JOINT POLYTECHNIC ADMISSIONS EXERCISE[JPAE]
For SPM and STPM holders--Well for that im not sure
For ITE Higher NITEC AND NITEC holders(2) [including final-year ITE students]
3)JOINT POLYTECHNIC SPECIAL ADMISSION EXERCISE[JPSAE]
For current year GCE 'O' Level holders(3) with outstanding talents/achievements or strong passion/aptitude for example,in leadership,entrepreneurship,sports,the arts,community service and academic-related areas
Also applies to courses with special course-related requirements such as Mass Communication and Flim,Sound and Video
4)DIRECT ADMISSION EXERCISE[DAE]
For students who are eligible to apply via the other routes.This includes holders of GCE 'O' Levels with a foreign nationality(1) , GCE 'A' Level and international qualifications
For 'O' Level holders who miss the English Language entry requirement by one grade but have at least a B4 grade in Mathematics and a relevant subject(4)
Students from IP schools
5)DIRECT POLYTECHNIC ADMISSION[DPA]
For current Sec 4(Special/express) or Sec 5 Normal(Academic) students who have an interest in and talent for applied education.The DPA is conducted in July each year for the subsequent year's intake.
TAKE NOTE: For all exercises except the DIRECT ADMISSIONS EXERCISE[DAE], applicants must not have enrolled previously in a polytechnic.
(1)Foreign students who sat the GCE 'O' Level exams as private candidates or who have previous years' GCE 'O' Level results are to apply through DAE
(2)Higher NITEC holders must have attained a minimum GPA of 2.0 to qualify for application.NITEC holders must have a GPA of at least 3.5 and have previously sat for either GCE 'N' or 'O' Levels to qualify for application.
(3)Not applicable to all GCE 'O' Level holders with previous years' result or foreign students who sat for the current GCE 'O' Level exams as private candidates.
(4)Priority will be given to those with distinctions in Mathematics and the relevant subject.
